The Sword Of Division and Obama

feature photo

While reading a news report from the World Net Daily web site about Obama’s religious views, I wondered about my views on Christian Unity. There are many news reports questioning Obama’s Christianity and his views about Jesus Christ being the only way to heaven.

I first want to address his view on the religious right creating division. His statements made in a speach last year about “This not being a Christian Nation any more” is being recirculated on You tube, in which I’ll embed later on in this article. Here is his quote.

“Whatever we once were, we’re no longer a Christian nation. At least not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, and a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers,”

Anyway you look at his statement and place it next to a news paper, in many ways he is correct. We are losing our Christian values to the Muslim’s, Buddhist, Hindus, but most of all we are losing it to ourselves.

Christian Division

While growing up a southern Baptist I can remember the old values, or old ways being preached behind the pulpits. It was Hell Fire, Brimstone, Damnation, and the sin that would take you there. We also heard of a loving Saviour that took our place on Calvary, that took our punishment so we could all be in Heaven. I can still hear the old preachers say “There is a Heaven to gain and a Hell to shun”.

In those days the majority of Christians held to their biblical belief that if “God said it, I believe it, and that settles it”. Today it is sad to say that blindness has come to the main stream belief that God’s word is inerrant, and the new saying is, “God said that but means this”, or that “God’s word is not relevant today”.

The division that is spreading in the Christian arena is due to the fact we are being Christian in name only and in reality do not truly believe the Bible. We have come to the point where we believe that God is Love and would never hurt us or send us to a burning Hell. So if God is true to His Word we find the opposite.

2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

Of course we can take the homosexual agenda of “Same Sex Marriage” as one of the dividing issues. One great battle that has been fought lately is from the Anglican Church in VA. There are 11 church’s in VA that decided to hold on to their traditional Biblical values and separate from the main body. Here is a news clip from the Family Research Council web site:

While Anglicans from all over the world gathered in Jerusalem last week to bring the church “back to the Bible,” stateside members of the Episcopal Church (EC) were battling 11 congregations in Virginia whose convictions led them to break away from the EC and remain faithful to traditional church teachings on issues like homosexuality. The band of 11, whose property the Virginia Diocese is desperately trying to seize, won a critical victory in court in what is being called one of the largest lawsuits in the history of the denomination.

We as Christian need to understand to be a Christian is to adhere to the values and traditions given to us from the word of God. This type of division is going on all over this country. Obama made the point in his speech about the “Religious right dividing this country”

Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it’s because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who’ve been all too eager to exploit what divides us,” he said.

Through out the history of the world from the Old Testament to the New Testament there is just one thing that has been used to divide us, “SIN”. It started “driving us apart”, when Christians started to allow it in their lives and left the “Traditional Values” taught in God’s word. We are truly to blame, but not as Obama thinks.

The one who started Christianity Himself stated he came to send a sword!

Mt. 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

This sword is the Word Of God and it became FLESH! Those that do not adhere to it stand against it and that is what divides us and this country! Jesus is the light that shows us our deeds, our sins, and that is what we can’t stand. We would rather live in darkness be cause we HATE the LIGHT!

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Until Obama understands what he reads he will never know why there is division when it comes to Christianity or the Word of God, nor will the world know. Light divides the darkness in this world.

Do you know the LIGHT?

Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
