The NC School Violence Prevention Act
I seem to be centering on NC a lot these days. I guess it’s because I live in a neighboring state and there is allot going on there these days. I just fear that what goes on next door will eventually come this way.
I just read a new article from the NC Christian Action League about the new School Violence Prevention Act that is going through the legislative process. It’s hard to understand why so many want to add the words “Sexual-Orientation”, to a bill that would, as is, cover any bullying. If you have read anything concerning the words “Sexual Orientation” being added to any law, it elevates a behavior or lifestyle to the ranks of, Race, Nationality, and Gender.
I keep going back to the grassroots effort in Mass. at Massresistance.org. If the people in NC allows this wording to be placed into this legislation they will soon be seeing the same thing they are there. Then it will begin to race down to other states including mine!
Here is the article from CAR and I love the graphic that Mark Creech used
The School Violence Prevention Act: A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
By Rev. Mark H. Creech
Christian Action League of North Carolina, Inc.The Greeks and the Romans used to have a proverb: “Like root, like fruit,” it said. Seneca once declared that good would never grow from evil any more than a fig tree would grow an olive. Jesus once warned about “wolves in sheep’s clothing” and added that grapes could never be gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles. Jesus was referring to a certain thorn of his day known as the buckthorn, which had little black berries that greatly resembled grapes. The thistle he referenced had a flower that looked very much like a fig. But the point was relevant even to our own day. There is often a superficial resemblance between what is true and what is false.
Such is very much the case with HB 1366 - School Violence Prevention Act, legislation sponsored by Rep. Rick Glazier (D-Cumberland). The measure would require that public schools in North Carolina adopt policies to address the problems of bullying. But it is the enumerations of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity or expression” included in the bill’s definition of bullying that are problematic.
Certainly no reasonable individual would want to be complicit with bullying for any reason. At least this is what the Senate thought and stripped away all of the enumerations from the House version of the bill and sent it back to that chamber for concurrence. Nevertheless, the House voted not to concur by a 60-56 margin and Rep. Glazier vowed to get the objectionable language of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity or expression” placed back in the legislation.

I agree with his statement, “Certainly no reasonable individual would want to be complicit with bullying for any reason.” So why add to the bill? Well, again lets go back to Massresistance. If this wording is added to the bill then “Sexual-Orientation”, will be allowed to be taught as a norm in class. Then along comes “Transgender Identity”, the school restrooms will have to become “unisexual” for those students that are having an identity crisis, and cant figure out whether they are male or female when they woke up that morning! Of course later on, like Mass. the state Senate will be giving $850,000.00 of your tax money to help educate your children about the benefits of being homosexual.
After the two Christians being arrested in Hickory this bill will grow into a nightmare for anyone preaching or just handing out tracks on the streets of NC! Please, if you live in NC join the fight with CAL and stop this before it’s too late! My prayers are with you!

Comment by A Mother on 17 July 2008:
As a Christian Mother, I want my child protected regardless of orientation. Does the name “Matthew Sheppard’ remind us of the violence perpetrated against these children? Please support this Bill.
Comment by Tim on 17 July 2008:
Hi Christian Mother:
Thanks for the comment and I too like you want my child protected from bullying. I have four children, two grandchildren and one on the way.
To address the first part of your comment, this bill would do exactly that, protect your child or any child regardless of orientation from bullying the way it was first written.
Now let’s just say for example: My child is a homosexual, yours is not, He or She has a few words with your child because he or she, Let’s say jumped in front of the line during lunch. Your child said something and one thing lead to another and some punches were thrown.
Both wind up in the principals office. My child ends up with detention, your child is expelled for the rest of the year, and possible charges from the DA due to a “Hate Crimes Law” because my child was “Homosexually Oriented”. Do you see where I’m going with this.
It has already happened in a few states. I know of one college kid who lost his scholarship because a Homosexual called him a name and one thing lead to another. He’s facing a Felony instead of a lower charge due to the fact the other guy was a homosexual.

There is an article here in the blog from Berit Kjos about “Hate Crime Laws” that discusses Matthew Sheppard. Even though what happened to him was horrendous and the perpetrators should be punished to the full extent. There is one we didn’t get to hear that much from;
Here is a link to the article here: http://achristianvoice.com/2008/05/why-hate-crime-laws-would-ban-biblical-christianity/
I greatly appreciate your comment and look forward to discussing it further.
